Kasem Chouja
Kasem has been teaching drums since 1997 — nearly 30 years of experience across hundreds of students, from complete beginners to diploma-level players.
He's a professional working musician, currently playing with King With No Throne, and the owner of Oneforty — so lessons happen in a real working studio and creative space, not a spare room.
Kasem also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Monash University — so alongside decades behind the kit, he brings genuine, qualified teaching skill to every lesson.
He's also a professional drum kit tuner and servicer, with around 26 years' experience getting kits sounding and playing their best — a skill he brings into lessons too, so students learn on properly set-up instruments from day one.

Drum lessons in Harrow: your questions answered
How old do you have to be to start drum lessons?
There's no upper limit, and plenty of students start as adults. For younger children, get in touch and we'll talk through whether they're ready. Kasem teaches kids, teens and adults, from complete beginners upwards.
I've never played anything. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most students start from zero. You'll play a real beat in your first lesson, and lessons are paced around you, not a fixed syllabus.
What happens in the first lesson?
Kasem gets to know what you want from drumming and what music you love, then gets you playing straight away. You'll leave knowing your first beats and with a clear idea of where lessons can take you.
Do I need my own drum kit?
No. Lessons happen on a full professional kit in the studio. For practice at home, a practice pad and sticks are enough to start, and Kasem can advise on electronic or acoustic kits when you're ready.
Can I take graded exams?
Yes. Kasem prepares students for Trinity and Rockschool drum grades 1 to 8 and diplomas, but exams are completely optional. Plenty of students just want to play the music they love.
How much are lessons?
£30 for a half-hour lesson and £50 for an hour. You book and pay online, so there are no invoices to chase.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel or reschedule more than 48 hours before your lesson for a full refund or a free move. Within 48 hours the lesson is non-refundable. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Is Kasem DBS checked?
Yes. Kasem is fully DBS checked, holds a teaching qualification from Monash University, and has been teaching since 1997.
Do you also teach piano or music theory?
Yes. Kasem also teaches piano up to Grade 7 and music theory up to Grade 7. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Where are lessons held, and is there parking?
At Oneforty, 140 Vaughan Road, Harrow HA1 4EB, about five minutes' walk from West Harrow station on the Metropolitan line. There's on-street parking on the surrounding roads, and a café on site if you're waiting for a child.

Kasem also tunes and services drum kits professionally — around 26 years' experience getting kits sounding right and playing smoothly, whether it's your own kit at home or one that needs setting up properly for the first time.
Covers full tuning, head assessment, and general setup, so your kit plays and sounds the way it should.

Lessons happen at Oneforty, a professional recording and rehearsal studio in Harrow that also runs as a live music venue — with its own café. We offer full recording, rehearsal space, and multi-camera livestream production, and we regularly host other tutors' recitals and live gigs on site.
