Lesson Structure

There are three areas that form my lessons: drum fit exercises, reading and analysing music charts and theory, and playing and building a musical repertoire in a variety of contemporary musical styles.

Drum fit exercises involve playing and applying four core rudiments (single stroke, double stroke, paradiddle and multiple bounce roll), to a metronome.  This part also involves bass drum exercises.

Reading music charts involves learning music theory and how to read and play drums.  Leaning how to read the musical language of drum fills, grooves, hi-hat technique and all aspects of drum kit sound and expression is taught at this area.

Playing to music forms the synthesis of the previous stages and it involves playing to music with precise time, control, proper dynamics and production of an engaging sound.
